Therapy Clinician

Mindfield Wellness is committed to helping to provide the most effective KAP results for your patient. In-home IV ketamine therapy with Mindfield Wellness addresses the root causes of many mental health conditions and can create lasting change by reducing rumination and facilitating brain plasticity and healing.

Our program has been designed to work within the patient’s existing therapeutic relationships, providing a proven program of complimentary care for ketamine therapy: proper patient preparation, consistent self-reported monitoring, symptom tracking and integration.

How We Partner With Providers

Mindfield Wellness provides the most effective, legal medication available for depression and a variety of other mood disorders in an environment optimized for the set and setting and safety of your patient: their own home.

Rather than seeing our service as a silver bullet solution, we consider it a critical pillar in a larger context of care for patients with mood disorders. We work closely with each patient’s existing mental healthcare providers to ensure the best outcomes of care. Here’s how:

Evaluating Fit

We work with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and primary care providers to determine if ketamine treatment is a good option for their patients.

Preparing for Care

We help partners prepare their patients for treatment by providing a step-by-step overview of our process. Our coaches specifically discuss what the ketamine experience can be like, and how the patient can obtain the most from that experience. In this way, we hope to ensure that everyone is aware of the most current clinical and therapeutic practices in the field.

Who is Right For Mindfield Wellness?

The American Psychiatric Association lists a wide spectrum of conditions that may be addressed through infusions of ketamine. Of these, we treat: Depression, Anxiety, Post-Partum Depression, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder 1 & 2, Eating Disorders, OCD, Suicidal Ideation, Addiction and other psychiatric and mood disorders, as appropriate. We work with providers to determine if ketamine is appropriate and safe for their patients, and we personally screen all patients prior to each infusion.

Evidence Supporting Ketamine For Depression

Treatment Success Rates

Whereas fewer than 30% of patients on traditional antidepressants realize relief of their depressive symptoms (Pigot et Al), intravenous infusions of ketamine have shown an average of 75% treatment success rates for depressive episodes in patients with major depressive disorder (CANMAT).

While oral antidepressant medication can take six to eight weeks to take effect and have unwanted side effects, ketamine takes effect almost immediately after administration, with minimal, if any, harmful effect.

At Mindfield Wellness, we believe that a high success rate when using IV ketamine is due to a thoughtful attention to detail surrounding the care experience and a team based approach to craft individualized, long-term care plans.

Further Literature

Ketamine for depression is an evolving field, and we strive to stay current on related literature and scientific studies. See here an extensive guide to external studies that we compiled for people who value data as much as we do.

The Mindfield Wellness Treatment Plan

In order to streamline the intake process, we provide digital intake forms for patients, including a release of records and permissions to speak with their existing mental health team.

Every patient begins with a free 30-minute consultation call with one of our Coaches, to further determine whether Mindfield Wellness is an appropriate fit, and to provide basic information to the patient about ketamine and Mindfield Wellness’ treatment.

Patients are provided with a pre-treatment questionnaire to help us evaluate their baseline responses.

Patients then have a complete evaluation to determine if ketamine is appropriate with our treating physician.

We close the loop with every listed provider before a patient begins care to establish a clear baseline and confirm treatment fit.

Patients book six in-home infusions over a two-three week period to establish a foundation of care.

Patients are provided with post-treatment integration sessions with their Coach.

Weekly post-treatment questionnaires help us further chart the patients’ progress.

We reconnect with all providers on the care team to assess treatment success two weeks following the final foundational treatment.

Edward Bates

FOUNDER

Ed Bates has enjoyed a thriving career in the arts & entertainment industry as a producer, writer, director, film distributor and educator.

In 2020, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bates started a medical company, The Safe Set. The Safe Set designed and operated contact tracing programs for Netflix and Buzzfeed, and ran production mitigation programs and testing strategies for many other entertainment companies, allowing scores of film industry professionals to safely return to work.

When Covid vaccines became available at the end of 2020, Bates immediately devoted The Safe Set to vaccinations: The Safe Set vaccinated thousands of school children and underserved adults in Los Angeles County. For months, Bates’ company vaccinated the students and their families in L.A. Unified School District, Santa Monica & Malibu School Districts, numerous independent schools and operated his own vaccination clinic in South Los Angeles.

Bates has been interested for many years in the growing proof that psychedelic medicines show significant success in treating mental illness when combined with therapy. During 2020, a friend of Bates’ had become deeply depressed and had not been helped by any other therapies and that he had slipped into a hopeless state of suicidality. Bates was profoundly relieved when one day his friend called with an entirely new outlook and attitude of positivity towards his life: his friend told him that a series of ketamine infusions, along with therapy, had led to this miraculous change. That day, Bates’ journey to understanding the power of psychedelics to help patients with mental illness began, along with his mission to bring this powerful treatment to patients in need.
